Canon: Fire Emblem: Fates
Canon Point: Post-Revelations Ch. 17
Age: 19-21(?)
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Appearance:
History/Background: WARNING: FE:F & FE:A SPOILERS
Personality:
At a first glance, Laslow seems like the usual unsuccessful flirter archetype, what's with him using somewhat corny pick-up lines that might or might not work depending on the exact girl he's hitting on right now. Aside from that, it's also easy to see that Laslow always takes everything with a smile (and probably some tears if it's a rejection), letting things slide over or maybe even smoothing an argument or two. In other words, Laslow is a man full of smiles and goodwill. When he's not hitting on girls, really.
This 'charming' side of him oftentimes nets him either an outright rejection or a bad situation, considering that there are moments where he gets tricked by women. An example would be when Charlotte decided that he's too easy to be used as a target for her fliting, considering how desperate his flirting makes it seem at times. Though, even through the countless flirting, he is genuine with his compliments. And he generally will drop the act once he's sure his target really is bothered by it (or someone else just calls him out on it). Either ways, his flirting is pretty much his really obvious quirk, and is something that is pretty much absent whenever he really needs to have a chat rather than a slap.
An obvious quirk that is used to hide his actual shyness. You see, even with his friendly and overly forward (to the ladies) nature, Laslow is actually naturally shy. Should one turn his flirting on him he'll get flustered easily, as he's not quite used to dealing with people returning his words. In fact, the reason he took up this flirty nature in the first place is to hide his shyness, and that it extended to other areas. While currently Laslow could dance in public without suffering from a breakdown, he used to be unable to due to extreme stage fright, preferring to practice alone rather than being in public. This shyness of him is inherited from his mother, who was also quite the shy person.
Another thing he usually does is to undersell his pains with a smile, that he's going to be fine and to count on him. Whenever he's not a flirt, he's definitely the type to crack a joke or two in order to keep the mood light. This might cause a problem or two with people calling out to him that he's not taking anything seriously, but that's just what he wants you to believe. In a way, this facade helps people to ease up around him, and at the same time, cause concern with how callous he can get at times during serious situations. Still, he means well, and people generally knows that too.
Beneath his passion for women and dancing, lies another individual, one of that his past. Laslow was known as Inigo, and they share the same traits, for they are the same person. What comes next is the core of his individual. Not of the loyal retainer of Nohr, and definitely not of the cheerful flirt that he is in the front. Hiding everything beneath a smile, Laslow's true self is that of a survivor of a broken world. The only surviving member of his family, and one of the survivors of a ravage world who had to return to a different time in order to get a second chance.
His cheerful facade is not one crafted due to a desire to hide his shyness, but rather one borne out of desire to protect his friends. To look strong so they can continue fighting for their ruined future. It's even mentioned that while Inigo hates taking lives from people, he found in horror that it just gets easier for him to kill without remorse. So he really hates to see people who kill with no reason, as well as having sympathy to those who had lost their parents. This is why he's slightly mortified within his interactions with Peri, as he found out that the girl would kill her servants who hadn't done anything bad to her, as well as hugging her when he figured out her reason why.
He also... has some issues over whether he's still the same person from before. While it's generally resolved, he's still afraid that his life as 'Inigo' is a lie. And this is something he'll keep hidden to the closest of friends from his own world. Having been sent to a different world for a purpose he can't tell people, it's only natural that the burden is taking its toll. But as Laslow of the Azure Sky (or so Odin calls him), he couldn't have any doubts. And that's why he's going to go on to fight for what he feels is right once again.
Skills/Abilities:
- Swordsmanship
Laslow is an excellent swordsman, equaling Xander in strength, and perhaps more, as indicated by Xander when he's suspicious that Laslow might've been holding back during their sparring sessions.
- Dancing
Laslow is able to dance, increasing ally's morale and increasing their stats during battle. This dance's origin is unknown, and while Laslow knows exactly where he learned it from, he's not saying anything about it.
Magic Weapon:
- Fleur de Lis:
An ornately decorated rapier, this unassuming sword doesn't show its true power until mana is poured into it. When it detects the presence of mana from its user, the blade shines brightly, blinding those that sees it. Upon the flash dying down, those of the same sex as the user will feel a slight attraction to the user. Those of the opposite sex will feel a slight anger to the user. This effect stacks up on multiple uses, and wears off after an hour regardless of how much it's stacked up.
Carrier:
- Ai Ai Gasa (RANDOMIZED BY MODS):
A mechanical umbrella that looks as if it's always floating happily. According to rumors, it wishes that it was a magic carpet instead so it could carry couples to a whole new world. But that doesn't stop it from trying to support any couples it sees; it will always hover over a pair of people no matter what. Umbrella sharing is romantic, after all.

...The birds are chirping, and the town is bustling with activity. To Laslow, who was more used to wars in general, this kind of sound is something relatively uncommon for the male. It was nice! And yet compared to the drab Nohrian kingdom, this bright place felt... A bit too artifical for him, as if he doesn't really belong here. For a matter of fact, accepting the title Hero, too, felt different this time around. Maybe it has something to do with this being the third time, and how the thrill of the title feels dead to him. (It was never a thrill, a burden is all it ever was.). Seeing families enjoying their time in a normal day, all the while people are fighting their war for them... Well, it's slightly normal to feel a bit of a bitter taste in his mouth, to be honest.
But it's never their fault. The citizens never asked for this, and that's why the Heroes have to do the fighting. And he supposed that's fine. He's used to shedding blood for a purpose, and he'd rather do that than see a crumbling town filled with crying faces. Still, that reminds him. He should probably write a letter to Xander explaining his circumstances, as he's sure that Lord of his would be worried that his trusted retainer is currently missing.
"I wonder what he would say, if he were to find out that I'm serving another country right after he agreed to work with Corrin," Laslow wondered to himself aloud, as he walks through the busy street.
Surely, it would be something ridiculous like preventing him to leave the room. After all Xander is a strict man, and it's a miracle that a lackadaisical person like him could even survive years of being his retainer in the first place. That thought of Xander's scolding brought a slight chuckle to Laslow, earning him some looks from the pedestrian, but he doesn't really mind it that much. Still, now that he's away from everyone, he should probably acclimatize himself with the area. Hm, taking requests from the citizens? How droll, but it does give him the most opportunities to learn just what kind of people he'll be defending. How about the tavern? No, it's too early and getting robbed while drunk is the last thing he wants to happen to him.
"Hey, look at him," "Oh, wow, he is kind of cute, isn't he?"
...A slight smile graced Laslow's lips upon hearing the sounds of... hm, two lovely maidens. Yes, that could only be it. He has (been rejected) trained himself a lot for this moment. What better way to know the ins and outs of the city, than getting to know the women? Surely, the gossips they have would teach him more than the tavern. His mind decided, he turns towards the source of the voices he heard.
"Well, my dear ladies, thank you for your kind words—"
What greeted him was the sight of a nightmare. (2x) Ah, surely, this is definitely going to be the start of a long day.
